Selfie Video + Script

Just making this short video about myself was challenging to me. I am definitely not comfortable talking in front of a camera, which you can see in the video. So, I was a bit stressed out thinking about creating this video. After listening back to it and fixing my script to really match what I did say on the video I see that I definitely have work to do in front of the camera. I need to learn to be more natural and say "umm" less. This was definitely a learning experience and I think will help me make my next video better.

Hi my name is Heather Cook, I am 32 years old and I live on Long Island with my husband, my two daughters who are six and sixteen months, and my two dogs. Umm, after the birth of my youngest daughter in 2014 I left my full time job. Umm, I worked at a company that imported crystals, umm Swarovski crystals and Preciosa crystals. I decided to be a stay at home mom. And I decided that it seemed like a good time to go back to school. So that is how I ended up at Empire. I wanted to follow my dreams of being a photographer. My husband  was currently enrolled in Empire, finishing his bachelors and he had had such a great experience so I decided that would be a place to start. Umm, I have one more semester left in my art degree. I have a concentration in photography and digital art. I’m trying to learn everything I possibly can. Umm, I want to be a professional photographer. I love to take nature photos and landscape. I also really love lighthouses so I like to travel to New England and take lots of lighthouse photos.  Umm, you can actually here my dogs barking in the background. Umm, umm, I love animals as well. Umm, and I like taking pictures of my dogs and family also. Umm, I would like to be more like a nature photographer umm than actual like people and pets and whatnot. Umm, but I wouldn’t mind starting off doing that. Umm, my husband actually recommended this course so that is why I am taking it. And I have never done any kind of videos, this is the first time I am ever video taping myself so it is a little stressful, umm I am sure it will get easier as time goes on. Umm, I am excited for this class and to learn all about digital story telling. Umm, I think it will definitely help me as a photographer and as a digital artist and I look forward to interacting with everyone. Bye!
