Here is my final video in this class, my selfie (which I think is obviously a more comfortable selfie than my one in the beginning of class. I am certainly more at ease with the process and talking to the camera).

Script:
Hi everybody, welcome to my final video in this class. I can’t
believe that we have gotten to the end of our journey in this class. I feel
like as when we started in the class I didn’t really know what digital
storytelling was. I didn’t really understand it. I kind of just thought it was
videos and through the course of the class I have learned so much. Not just
from the professor and from the things that we have learned in the class, but
also from the other classmates.I think
I have learned a lot from everybody and also this last collaborating exercise
has taught me a lot. A lot more goes into digital storytelling than I ever
knew. And I think I have the tools now to make better videos and make better
digital stories in general, of every different type. And I have learned a lot,
definitely. And I have really enjoyed this class, had a lot of fun creating
digital stories, and learning different tools to create digital stories with.
And it has been a great journey and I have been glad to be on it. And it is
definitely something I have really enjoyed learning. And I bid you all a farewell!
I cannot believe that it is already the end of this class. I feel like it flew by. However, I do feel like I have learned a lot. I think I wasn't really sure exactly what digital storytelling was before this class. This class has enlightened me so that I not only know what it is, but I understand how to produce it. I have learned different tools to produce digital stories and the proper ways to go through the process of making them. Emotion plays a big part in telling digital stories. The emotion you put into it you can get out of. Meaning the more that you put into it the more the viewer can feel it. I have grown a lot in this class, when it comes to being comfortable in front of a camera and narrating audio. I feel ready to create my final video selfie and not as super nervous as I did when I created my original one at the beginning of class.
Team One (myself, Zamantha, Giancarlo, Niagene, and Dyana) came together to create a digital story to help fight world hunger for our project collaborating for a cause.
Our Script:
“That 98% of the world undernourished people live in
developing countries?”
“Hunger occurs in Asia (525.6 million), Sub-Saharan
Africa (214 million), Latin America and the Caribbean (37 million).”
These countries are facing these struggles with no
resources to change the way that things need to be. There are people everyday
that are throwing away food that could be useful.
“60 percent of the worlds hungry are women.”
“50
percent of pregnant women in developing countries lack proper maternal
care, resulting in approximately 300,000 maternal
deaths annually
from childbirth.”
“1 out of 6infants are born with a low birth weight in developing
countries.”
“Nearly half of all deaths in children under 5 are
attributable to under-nutrition. This translates into the unnecessary loss of
about 3 million young lives a year.”
“Every
10 seconds, a child dies from hunger-related diseases.”
These are facts that we have to face. We have to
take action to change this and finally put an end to world hunger. Everyday a
child dies. When they are supposed to be living their lives and having a great
time being young, they have to worry about when they are not going to feel pain
anymore. Wonder if they will get food that day or the next. We have to change;
the world has to change. We have to work together to get to this goal and to
make sure that in the coming years these statistics lower and become a passing
time.
We have to change world hunger and make sure that no
one in this world goes hungry again.
The ways that we can help are to donate money; any
amount of money can change a child’s life in more ways than one. We can also
donate food and cans as well.
To
make the change we have to want to help. These organizations will help us get
there. We need to start thinking about the future, and that is when no child
will ever go hungry again.
Our
goal is to open the eyes of others out there. Know the facts of world hunger.
Learn them, and start the change. If you can’t donate money, volunteer. Help
the world in more ways just by being there. Change someone’s life by helping.
We have to change the world, and that won’t happen if we are sitting down and
letting it happen. We have to move. We have to work, and we will see that
together we stopped world hunger.
